Furniture lift

When is a furniture lift useful?

Will a sofa, wardrobe or washing machine not fit through the stairwell? A furniture lift prevents damage, saves time and makes moving in a busy city centre far calmer. Here is when a lift is worth it.

The classic problem: the stairs

Many homes in the Randstad have narrow, steep stairs and cramped stairwells. A two-seater sofa, a large fridge or a solid wardrobe often simply will not fit through, however handy you are. Forcing it leads to damaged walls, scratched furniture and, in the worst case, injury.

A furniture lift raises your belongings along the outside of the building, straight to the right window or balcony. This bypasses the stairs entirely, so heavy or bulky items go in and out safely.

A furniture lift is sensible in these situations

Consider a lift when one or more of these points apply to you:

  • You live on a floor without a spacious lift in the building
  • The stairwell is narrow, steep or has sharp turns
  • You have large or heavy furniture that cannot be taken apart
  • You want to avoid damage to walls, banisters and furniture
  • Speed matters: loading and unloading goes much faster with a lift

Faster and safer than carrying

A lift saves not only your back but also time. What takes several trips up and down the stairs by hand is done in a fraction of the time with a furniture lift. On moving day that often saves a couple of hours, certainly for an upper-floor flat on the third or fourth floor.

Our furniture lifts are operated by an experienced driver and reach high floors. You can rent a lift on its own, for example if you want to carry things yourself but not up the stairs, or as part of a complete move.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about this topic

How high does a furniture lift reach?

Our furniture lifts reach high floors, more than enough for most upper-floor flats in the Randstad. If you are unsure about the height, we check with you in advance.

Can I rent just a furniture lift without a moving crew?

Yes. We rent out furniture lifts on their own, operated by an experienced driver. Ideal if you want to carry things yourself but bring the heavy or large items in via the lift.

Do I need a permit for a furniture lift on the street?

In some municipalities an exemption or parking space is required. We know the rules across the Randstad and help you arrange this in time, so the lift can simply be there on moving day.
